Weekend singing retreat
Sing Summit 1 was so special you asked us to do it again, so come and climb the mountain of music with us at Sing Summit 2!
Come and fill your cup before the end of year chaos sets in with a weekend of wholesome singing at Sing Summit led by Naomi Cooper and Jack Fitzgerald Sice of Sydney Alterna Choir. The group will scramble along the craggy a cappella escarpment and up the harmonious heights to gaze loftily at the earth below us from the summit of song. You will have fun with lovely people, drink some tea, zone out and then realise you’re singing beautiful harmonies with no real memory of how you got there.
We will luxuriate in the reverberant acoustic of Temple on the Park, just a short walk from Newtown train station, and sing songs that soothe our souls: songs from around the world, jam-packed with groove, soaring melodies, inspiring lyrics, and crispy nuggets of unexpected delight.
We make traditions out of our shared mealtimes: catered morning tea and lunch together on Saturday, with a casual singalong around the piano and a pub meal at the nearby Carlisle Castle Hotel in the evening.
We know there are always a few other things you need to do on the weekend, so Sunday is a late start so you can walk your dog, visit your mum, cuddle your kids and do the grocery shopping.
If you can’t come for the whole weekend then you can come on a single day, though note that we’ll start some songs on Saturday and continue them on Sunday.
We’ll be learning brand new arrangements written especially for the weekend, so you don’t need to have sung with Alterna Choir before to join us for the retreat. Everyone is welcome and you don’t need any singing experience, just a sense of humour and sense of fun! We will teach everything by ear (we sing it for you and you just copy) so that everyone is comfortable, regardless of whether or not you have sung before.
Sing Summit is the perfect opportunity to bring your friends, housemates, neighbours, partner or family to experience a little bit of Alterna magic.

What people said about Sing Summit 1
“It was so upbeat and happy. I think everyone enjoyed it. Hard to convey exactly why it felt so good but it was exhilarating- and surprisingly emotional.”
“Fantastic - so encouraging and supportive - love the way it ‘all comes together’ magically - the creativity of Jack and Naomi is ace!!” - Lizzie
“As always your teaching and excitement and enthusiasm when teaching and hearing the different sections coming together is infectious and it brings such joy to the experience.” - Isabelle
“The vibe was on point! That's what makes Alterna so enjoyable is the wonderful, kind, fun people that come and sing together.” - Kate
“As always, Naomi & Jack made some quite complicated arrangements easier to learn by teaching us small section by small section. I'm always surprised how good we sound in a very short time. They also make learning so enjoyable by making us laugh and relax into a song.” - Jan
